False is thy tongue.
Henceforth it will, I think,
prate no good to thee. - Freyja in Lokasenna His StoryIs Loki truly evil? Depends how you look at him. The stories of the Norse depict Loki as a troublemaker, a murderer, a liar and a thief. Other stories show Loki as a trustworthy travelling companion, a solver of problems and a giver of lessons. In the poems, he is referred to as the contriver of all fraud. Loki is the sworn half-brother to Odin the All-Father through a bond of blood taken many ages ago. But when he kills Odin's innocent son Baldr through trickery, Loki is added to the most wanted list and chained to a rock in the bowels of the earth. There, his wife Sigyn holds a bowl over his head to catch the dripping venom from a poisonous snake the gods had placed there as punishment for his deeds. But when Sigyn must remove the bowl to empty it, the venom drips and Loki writhes in pain thus creating earthquakes. In the end of times in the final battle of Ragnarök, Loki leads the Jotun (giants, forces of evil) against the Aesir led by Odin. There Loki meets his shared fate with Heimdall the Watcher. Auberon summoned Loki to teach Henry VIII some valuable lessons about humility. Unfortunately, things backfired when Loki and his wife Sigyn took matters into their own hands.
